Austin Wine Festival
A uniquely Austin 3-day Texas wine celebration - RAIN OR SHINE! Wineries from Lampasas to New Braunfels and Fredericksburg to Dripping Springs have bloomed from a pioneering few, into an internationally awarded and recognized wine region... The number 2 wine destination in the nation, second only to Napa! Together they have created the now 2nd annual Austin Wine Festival, the first of its kind in Texas. What makes the second annual Austin Wine Festival, taking place at The Domain May 24-26, 2008, more than just an average wine festival? How about the chance to not only taste some of the Texas Hill Country's most popular award-winning wines, but also the opportunity to instantly purchase the wines you like best – something that only happens in Texas at the AWF. "Our ultimate intent is to give anyone who loves wine, or who wants to learn to love wine, a chance to experience some of the best of Texas and do something unique," says Katy Jane Bothum, the Executive Director of Texas Hill Country Wineries, whose more than 20 member wineries created the three-day event to be held this year at The Domain in North Austin. "If you like the wine, you can buy it on the spot – it's as simple as that." The festival is thrilled to debut in 2008 the new and exclusively designed for AWF, Whole Foods Market Bistro! An onsite tented bistro serving a plethora of light fare and cheese plate combos in the trademark Whole Food Market style setting. In addition, an array of continuous entertainers will perform an eclectic mix of musical performances throughout the festival. Both one-day and three-day tickets are available online for advance purchase at a cost of $20.00 and $55.00 respectively. Tickets will also be available at the gate during regular event hours.
